Es un pequeño embalse de la empresa Arcelor situado en el Concejo de Corvera, concretamente en la parroquia de Trasona. La presa, es de tipo gravedad y está situada a 14,78 m de altura sobre el cauce. Fue puesto en servicio en el año 1957 con el fin de suministrar agua a la factorías siderúrgicas de ENSIDESA asentadas en la comarca de Avilés y en menor medida proveer de agua potable a la creciente población de la zona.
Recientemente se viene utilizando para el entrenamiento de los deportistas del Centro de Alto Rendimiento de piragüismo situado en su margen derecha y por supuesto como lugar de ocio y esparcimiento de los pueblos de la zona.
